I'm New Here
Helpful info for first time guests

Welcome! We're so glad you're here. Whether you're exploring faith or looking for a warm community, here's what you can expect when you visit our church:

What is it like?

  • Located in the rolling hills of southwestern Wisconsin on Highway 78, our modern church (built in 1991) is fully handicap accessible, offering everything on one level for ease of access.

  • We worship Sunday mornings at 10 :00 AM at the Wiota Church (6650 Highway 78N), except on the third Sunday of each month when worship is held at the historic East Church (10311 Highway 78) which was established in the 1840s and has deep Norwegian Lutheran roots. We gather at the East Church on the third Sunday of each month from Easter to Christmas Eve. When in doubt, check our calendar!

  • Our services follow the Evangelical Lutheran Worship liturgy—gathering, word, meal, and sending—with hymns, prayers, scripture, a sermon, and holy communion (both wine and grape juice are available, as well as gluten-free wafers).

  • Everyone is welcome: single, married, conservative, liberal, LGBTQ+, curious, lifelong Christians—you belong here.

What about my kids?

  • Sunday School runs from 9:00-9:45 AM during the school year. Children learn Bible stories, sing songs, and occasionally lead in worship. We have class for children aged Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade.

  • Confirmation specifically for 7th–8th graders includes weekly teaching, acolyte duties, and learning core doctrines (Lord’s Prayer, Creed, Ten Commandments, Bible, and Lutheran theology). Parents of confirmation students and other adults who are interested in enriching their spiritual life are encouraged to participate!

  • High School students in 9th-12th grade meet for a Sunday group as well. An adult guides them in discussion about life, faith, and understanding God's purposes in our complex world. High school students also participate in Youth Gathering trips that include fundraising opportunities throughout the year.
  • We celebrate baptism at any age, offering preparation, sponsors, and family-focused baptismal rites embedded into a communion service. The pastor also offers instruction on the Bible and first communion for children. Reach out to the pastor for more information.

Where do I park?

  • Free parking is available right beside the Wiota Church at 6650 WI‑78, South Wayne, WI 53587.

  • There are two entrances to the church. The main entrance with double doors leads into the Narthex and Sanctuary. A side entance with a single door leads into the Fellowship Hall and Kitchen.
  • Plenty of convenient, accessible spots and clear signage; no assigned parking—just come and go as you please.

  • Parking at the historic East Church (10311 Highway 78) is also available. The parking lot is gravel and has an incline, which requires care when entering and exiting!

What do I wear?

  • Come exactly as you are—jeans, dress, or casual—all are seen here! What matters most is that you show up and feel welcome.

How can I get connected?
